Every person has a unique perspective on fashion, yet we can all agree that it symbolizes how someone dresses and exhibits their style. Fashion can have a wide range of cultural and spiritual ties. To some, fashion is more than dressing up in nice, stylish, perhaps expensive clothes. For some, it is their passion. Pooja Shroff, a veteran Contemporary fashion designer is making a statement with her Sophisticated and Stylish collection. But her journey to success hasn’t been a cakewalk.

Know the Designer

Based in Delhi, Pooja Shroff is a fashion designer with a keen eye for Contemporary Designs. She graduated from Parsons New School of Design. The innovative designer combines exquisite contemporary aesthetics with functional silhouettes for the modern-day populace. She is a bold and free-spirited woman who launched her label with traditional outfits and then re-defined it with a new vigour of western ensembles which are size inclusive and gender-inclusive.

About her Work

The designer started her business back in 2010 in Kolkata with her collocation of western wear. However, after getting married, she had to relocate to Delhi and start a new unit from scratch. During Covid when everything was at a halt, Pooja thrived by launching her website. Her innate passion for designing western wear made her Redefine her brand in Contemporary fashion post-pandemic. This was the biggest challenge of her career.

"I've started my business three times while also being launched as a western label back in Kolkata in 2010. Then I moved to Delhi after marriage and restarted a new unit from scratch. I have undergone three IVF cycles while growing my business and working from home for a full year of bed rest during my pregnancy. A major challenge I faced. I told myself every day that nothing could back me down. It’s the passion for my work that kept me sailing through." She Acclaims.

Her never say die attitude didn't let her stop there. Pooja's debut at Amazon India Fashion Week in autumn/winter 2017 garnered numerous accolades for her collection Resist aur Dye, created using distinct Indonesian Batik methods on Indian textiles. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia has honoured Pooja for this collection. During Lakme Fashion Week, her 'Saar' collection was praised by both influencers and fashion enthusiasts. Many fashion icons from the industry wore her collection on the show. Recently, she has been awarded the Certificate of Recognition for contribution to the field of Fashion & Accessories By FICCI YFLO.

"Our plans revolve around the idea that caters to every person who has a contemporary taste and lives for fashion. Being gender-inclusive and making every size normal is what we are striving for as a brand."- She says.

Plans Ahead

Her vision to venture into the western wear segment focuses on integrating bold, sophisticated, and beautiful casual and party wear ensembles into modern people’s closets.

The designer highlights a woman's exquisite and sensitive side with her comfortable and sustainable clothing. Being a member of the FICCI, YFLO Ladies Organization, and the IMC Ladies Wing additionally provides her an advantage in understanding the senses of every lady looking for the right casual and party-wear western ensembles, which she makes an effort to include in her collection.

While the professional designer finds inspiration in nature, she has ambitious aspirations to expand her firm abroad, and as a recognized FDCI member, the aim does not seem far-fetched.

Concluding Thoughts

To conclude we can say - “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall”, and Pooja Shroff embodies the Quote.

She wants to share her story with all the ladies who believe they can not work full-time after having a baby, getting married, or, most importantly, restarting after leaving their job. Reinstating three times has only made her more substantial and more determined to reach new heights in her career.
