‘Pritikala’ by Nicke Tuli: A Journey of Hobby to Homepreneurship

June 3, 2024

If we ask- what is an accessory? In layman’s language, it's typically an item that enhances or complements your dressing style. Accessories can be of various types, such as jewelry, scarves, handbags, bracelets, hats, sunglasses, and many more things as far as your creativity takes you.

Meet Nicke Tuli, an advocate who runs her small-scale accessories business, ‘Pritikala.’ She is bringing her collection of handmade bags, bracelets, keychains, and other items to add to your dressing style. Nicke is a budding homepreneur who lives in Defence Colony, New Delhi, and she, with her mother, is taking her passion to the business world.

Hobby to Homepreneurship

Nicke’s journey of making her handcrafted beady items started when she used to see her mother make these handmade bags and many more things, and how her hobby of making these various items gave Nicke the idea to start a small business of accessories. The types of items that both the mother and daughter started with were small handmade bags made out of pearls, crystals, acrylics, and beads. Gradually, their variety spread to potli bags, keychains, bracelets, necklaces, and many other items. Pritikala’s price range of these handmade items is divided into different categories as per their items, such as - keychains ranging from 150 - 300, handmade bags - from 1100 to 6000, potli bags ranging from 1100- 3000, and other accessories between 500 - 1500.

They accept online payments, and anyone interested in their items can contact their WhatsApp community or Instagram. Nicke delivers her handcrafted items all over the world, packaging the products into soft muslin covers to prevent destruction or scratches, keeping quality considerations in mind.

Customers' feedback has been positive for Pritikala, and anyone who has purchased these beady items has responded lovingly on her Instagram handle. A few testimonials are: " Thank you, @Pritikala, for such an amazing purse. My mom loved it so much. It's way, way more beautiful than it looks.”

“These bracelets are fab, @Pritikala. I just received the parcel. The quality is up to the mark, and thank you.”

“Awesome product.. It gives one positive vibe and looks great, too..”

Overcoming Challenges

Nicke shares, “Businesses are filled with challenges; they are part and parcel of life. And frankly, it’s good to have challenges. They motivate me more." Being a growing business, she has her share of struggles, as such small businesses don't have much reach, and items like handmade bags of beads do not have much scope for themselves in the future. Still, with Pritikala, Nicke is hopeful and optimistic about taking her passion for craftsmanship to a higher level someday.

For that, Nicke has already started taking preventive measures. She participates in social communities and exhibitions to enhance her business reach. She is on Women Listed, so her digital business profile is easily searched and connected with. Nicke is also using word of mouth from her friends and family to grow her business.

Having Future Goals

Every home-based woman entrepreneur dreams of taking her small business to bigger horizons, and so does Nicke for ‘Pritikala.’ With fashion trends changing rapidly, she is doing her bit by keeping the art of handmade items and taking one step at a time.

Apart from her business-oriented life, Nicke maintains a work-life balance. In her free time, she loves watching Bollywood movies or Rom-Com old romantic classes like Cinderella Story, The Kissing Booth, and a few more. Lastly, she says, “Grab every opportunity, and never settle; there are vast opportunities for us all.”

With stories like Nicke, Women Listed helps showcase how any woman in the vicinity of their home is capable enough to take their business to the next level.
