8 ways to be more creative - Aparna Apte Gupta

August 31, 2022

We all are creative in some way or the Other. As Osho says: “To be creative means to be in love with life. You can be creative only if you love life enough that you want to enhance its beauty, you want to bring a little more music to it, a little more poetry to it, a little more dance to it.” It is a fact that we don't wait till there is an immediate need before trying to come up with creative ideas. Instead, Creativity is a skill that can be developed by practice to find and solve life's difficulties.

To discover how to unleash your creativity follow these top tips:

  • Change your habit and see the world with new eyes.
A weekend getaway or a walk through a neighborhood can change how you view your surroundings. This definitely gives you a new perspective and creative ideas.
  • Document everything, take pictures, collect things and keep souvenirs.
  • Be resourceful
Although it might seem contradictory, putting limits on yourself might allow your creativity to develop more freely. Try to work out your ways from the things available to you.
  • Say "yes" more often than "no."
Creative people are continually looking for new methods to solve problems. Positivity and an openness to new endeavors may help you find new solutions. Be receptive to fresh perspectives and project ideas.
  • Establish a creative network.
Being near folks with similar views is always beneficial. Working alone can be challenging and boring.
  • Everything is possible with optimism, vigor, and enthusiasm.
We often underestimated the significance of positive thinking. Any effort that is driven by enthusiasm and optimism will undoubtedly be successful.
  • Pretend and play.
When you play, you allow your thoughts to meander and your subconscious mind to work. This is why taking time away from work is important for creativity to flourish.
  • Ask the right question.

Let's take examples of origin stories of Starbucks and Instagram. Rather than asking, "How can I recreate an Italian espresso bar in the United States?" Its founder  eventually examined what wasn't working with that concept and asked, "How can I create a comfortable, peaceful setting in which to enjoy wonderful coffee?" And, while Kevin Systrom was thinking about how to make a wonderful location-sharing app, a better question turned out to be "How can we make a simple photo-sharing app?"

Are we missing out on something on our list? Do comment if you have something to add.
