For some, entrepreneurship begins with a business plan. For others, like the founder of Moora, it starts with a love story — one draped in six yards of tradition.
“I’ve always been drawn to sarees,” shares Prachi Seksaria. “They’ve been a constant in my life, not just as garments but as expressions of identity, heritage, and comfort.” That deep personal connection eventually inspired her to launch Moora — a brand that’s as bold as it is rooted in culture.
The word ‘Moora’ means silly or carefree, an energy the brand channels into every thread. In fact, Moora is about aesthetics in cotton and silk. The sarees are designed for everyday comfort while reflecting the elegance of Indian craftsmanship. With a focus on affordability and conscious production, each piece is responsibly crafted. Prices start at ₹3,250 and go up to ₹6,900, with regular deals available on the website. Today, Moora is proud to have built a community of over 20,000 happy customers.
A New Lens on the Saree
The idea was simple: take something traditionally ornate and make it wearable — every day, anywhere. As Prachi explains, “Let’s face it, sarees can be a bit of a hassle. But they don’t have to be.” With that in mind, Moora set out to reimagine the saree as modern workwear—comfortable enough for the daily commute, stylish enough for a boardroom, and casual enough for an impromptu street-side chai.
Moora uses co-conscious materials like soft cotton and silk that are not only gentle on the skin but kind to the planet. “We’re committed to accessibility without compromising on ethics. That means fair pay for artisans and price points that don’t alienate everyday buyers,” Prachi adds.
Each saree is handcrafted in Bagru, Rajasthan—a region celebrated for its block-printing legacy. Here, traditional techniques aren’t just preserved; they’re evolved. “We’re not just giving artisans instructions; we collaborate with them. Many of our best designs have come from their suggestions, refined by our design team.”
Building a Brand, One Artisan at a Time
But this journey wasn’t without its trials. As Prachi recalls, “The hardest part was finding artisans who matched our vision — those who cared about quality as much as we did. It took time. But eventually, we built a team that’s not only skilled but emotionally invested in what we’re creating.”
This collaborative model has become Moora’s creative backbone. Every piece feels deeply personal, carrying the spirit of the artisan who made it and the brand that shaped it.
The Digital Dance
In a world where trends change faster than the weather, staying relevant on social media has been both a challenge and a necessity.
“Keeping up with digital trends can be overwhelming, but it’s crucial,” Prachi admits. Moora has carved out a vibrant online presence, often working with influencers who share the brand’s aesthetic and values. More importantly, Moora listens. Customer feedback is taken seriously—every compliment, every concern, every question is a stepping stone in the brand’s growth.
“We’ve learned that engagement isn’t just about metrics—it’s about conversations.”
Looking Ahead
Moora’s journey is far from over. In fact, it’s just beginning to unfold.
“As we grow, we want to celebrate regional fashion identities,” she says. “Every Indian state has its own fashion DNA—shaped by culture, climate, and history. We want our collections to reflect that beautiful diversity.”
The roadmap ahead involves tapping into localized tastes and preferences while staying true to the brand’s core—sustainability, style, and storytelling.
Words for Other Women Entrepreneurs
When asked what advice she has for aspiring women entrepreneurs, her response to this was simple and clear: “Make sure to try your product yourself or test it on a small group before launching it in the market. As there’s no substitute for that kind of feedback.”
In an industry often driven by speed and scale, Moora is taking a different path—one that respects tradition, nurtures craft, and puts women at the center of the story.
After all, as she puts it, “What’s more powerful than a woman who wears her roots like a second skin?”
As Moora continues to grow, its story remains one of balance — between tradition and modernity, elegance and ease, purpose and creativity. With Prachi Seksaria at the helm, Moora isn’t just building a brand — it’s quietly shaping a more conscious way for women to wear their identity.
