Investing in Her Success: 6 Ways to Lift Women-Owned Businesses

April 19, 2024

Women from diverse backgrounds and industries are entering the entrepreneurial arena. We know they are the keys to a healthy economy, holding purchasing power, investing in their families and local communities, and running unique businesses. Moreover, they bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches, injecting new energy into previously male-dominated industries.

In one of our articles, we discussed why women entrepreneurs are less progressive than men in business. We will talk about ways to support women-owned businesses in this article to increase their progressiveness and help them be more successful.

Here are 6 ways to support a women-owned business:

1. Purchase from women-owned businesses

When you spend your money at businesses owned by women, you're helping them directly—it's like giving them a high-five for their hard work! And guess what? It doesn't just stop there. When you buy stuff or use services from these businesses, you're also helping the whole community. It's like a ripple effect of goodness! So, next time you're shopping, look for women-owned options. It's a supportive way to make a difference!

2. Collaborate with other fellow businesswomen

Being a businesswoman yourself, try working with other women-run businesses; it is called putting community over collaboration. Many women-led businesses sometimes feel they are falling apart, but you can help each other when things get complicated as a community. Some common ways of working together include sharing each other's posts on social media to help each other get more attention and putting products made by women-owned businesses in your store.

3. Provide Mentorship or support

It is important to help women-owned businesses stay strong and grow for a long time. Mentorships, groups where people share ideas (called masterminds), and special organizations can really help with this.

Running a women-led business can sometimes feel like you're on your own. But these programs allow you to talk to others, get advice, and share what you've learned. Mentorship is especially great because it lets experienced people help newer ones.

4. Compose testimonials or reviews

Women-owned businesses can quickly get noticed by writing positive reviews about the same. Reviews are like feedback about a business from its customers. They're super important for all businesses, be it small or big.

Reviews help women-led businesses in many ways. First, when others share their experiences, it feels real and authentic. 49% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. Reviews also help businesses know what they're doing well and what they can improve. It's like getting a report card from customers. So, by leaving reviews for women-owned businesses, you're helping them shine and grow!

5. Spread the word

Don't worry about telling people about your favorite women-owned businesses! It's like giving them a shout-out. Most women-led businesses usually can't afford big ads, so they really count on people like you to spread the word. Some easy ways are to mention them in your social media posts, explain why you like them about their brand or product, etc. This way, you can quickly help encourage them.

6. Attend events related to women's entrepreneurship

Attending events run by women-owned businesses is an excellent way to help and find out about what they sell or offer. These businesses often hold events like pop-up shops, meetups, or classes. These events are a great chance to meet the owner, meet others who like the business, and learn more about what they do.

Going to these events also tells the owner that you like their business. When you go, you help the owner and others who are there, which can create a feeling of togetherness that helps the business do well.

These simple ways can support women-owned businesses and help them become more successful and liberal.
