Young women often worry about getting their period on a particular date. But this is not something to worry about. While the menstrual cycle ranges from 21 to 40 days, with 28 days on average, these cycles may occur differently for different women.
“If you don’t get your period for more than 37- 40 days, consider discussing it with your Family Doctor or visit a gynecologist,” says Dr. Vandana Boobna, a certified Family medicines practitioner and an expert in Internal medicine.
Symptoms of PCOD
PCOD is an endocrinological disorder that affects your periods, fertility, and overall appearance. It can be a hereditary disorder brought on by abnormal hormone action. One in five Indian women suffer from PCOD.
Some of the common symptoms are:
- Irregular periods

Long-term Illnesses with PCOD
Women with PCOD are more likely to acquire diabetes if they have diabetes-prone ancestors, are overweight, are over 40, or have had gestational diabetes. It is usual for some women to feel depressed or suffer mood swings due to the condition's unfavorable effects on their physical appearance.
Pregnancy and PCOD
Women who are seeking to get pregnant have access to fertility medications. As your doctor advises, these can be taken at the start of each menstrual cycle for multiple cycles. If these are ineffective, we could go for an IVF procedure. With the correct treatment and lifestyle changes, most PCOD women may conceive.
Treatment of PCOD
PCOD cannot be cured but may be controlled with specific lifestyle adjustments.

Consume a protein and fiber-rich diet and cut out chocolates, chips, and processed food. Include lean proteins such as tofu/paneer, chicken, or fish and whole grains such as brown rice, whole wheat, or oats in your daily meals.
Exercise
Being physically active and walking for at least 30 mins daily is vital to manage a healthy lifestyle.
Final Words
